Montana National Guard Detachment heading to Afghanistan

Task Force Iron Horse before deployment Wednesday

About 60 Montana National Guard Soldiers are deploying for a year-long tour to Afghanistan.

The guard calls the detachment Task Force Iron Horse. They will be conducting air assault and resupplying missions–all with helicopters.

They flew out this week from the National Guard airfield in Helena.

Almost a decade of deployments to two wars has not made saying goodbye any easier.
