Helena attorney Monica Tranel understands the intensity Olympic athletes must have to compete at the highest level of their sport. Tranel was a member of the women’s eight rowing crew that took 4th place in the 1996 games in Atlanta, and she competed in the 2000 games in Sydney, coming in 12th in single sculls. In this feature interview, Tranel talks with News Director Sally Mauk about what it’s like to compete at the Olympic level – and about her love of rowing. Tranel came late to the sport – not getting serious about it till she was in law school at Rutgers..
