Hundreds of journalists from minor to major news organizations have gone through the training provided by the Missoula-based “Institutes for Journalism and Natural Resources.” IJNR was founded in 1995 by Frank Allen, a former editor for the Wall Street Journal, and former dean of the school of journalism at the University of Montana. Allen is retiring as executive director of IJNR at the end of this year.
